SHALVA
Social Media Content Creation and Management
SHALVA is the oldest independent Jewish domestic abuse agency in the United States. They focus on serving women in the Chicagoland area.
Since 1986 they have worked to break the cycle of abuse by giving survivors the support they need, and educating the community about intimate partner abuse.
I first heard about SHALVA when I was much younger. I remember seeing their posters in the bathroom stalls at my synagogue. Now, as an adult, I am more informed about SHALVA's services and resources that they offer to the community – all at no cost.
By making social media content for SHALVA, I have learned about:
•healthy relationships
•the six primary types of domestic abuse
•the red flags of abuse
•ways to support survivors of domestic abuse
SHALVA does amazing work for the community, and I am thrilled to be contributing to their mission by amplifying their community education. It is "heavy" content, but it's important and can save lives.
Creating content for SHALVA means that I have to be extra intentional with my choice of words, and lean into the "info" of infotainment. My goal is to make eye-catching content that stops the scroll and makes people stick around to learn more about healthy relationships.
